The Rowers ran away with three wins Feb. 18 as the club combined for a clean sweep against the Richmond Rugby Football Club.

The Thirsty Thirds started off the winning day in a rain-soaked contest that saw them go up 12-0 after a couple of minutes. Richmond played strong and held on for most of the first half as the game narrowed to 17-7 at halftime.

But in the second half, the VRC pulled ahead on the back of a four-try performance by Jamie "O-V" Overgaard.

Paddy O'Gorman also lead the way with some great rambling in the forwards, while Si D'Agrosa, Simon Taylor and Stu Holland put on several mini-clinics in the backs.

Justin, the second row, had a great game as well, displaying some excellent power running, and, if not for O-V's hat-trick-plus-one, might have garnered man-of-the-match honours. The Thirsty Thirds finished the contest up 10 tries to two, as the game ended 56-12.

The Super-Twos flew out the gates as well and took an early lead with a quick try in another boggy match.

It was muddy rugby day at the Oval Feb. 18.
Richmond played tough on defense but the opening kick-off was as close as they came as the Twos remained undefeated with a 29-0 victory at the Oval.

In the narrowest win of the day for the VRC, the Rowers' Firsts won 18-12.

Richmond played well and put up a good fight, but ultimately came up short in a match that featured some great running and tackling.

Steve Craig ran in a beautiful try in the first half to swing the momentum the Rowers' way and they never looked back from that point on. However, the RRFC held their lines strongly and their gutsy performance kept them in the game for the entire 80 minutes.

The match remained tight near the end when Richmond closed to within 3 points (15-12). But the Rowers slotted a late kick to stretch the lead to six, ultimately guaranteeing the victory.

Undefeated as a club, the ultimate test comes this weekend as the Rowers face an also undefeated Bayside Club. Both clubs have almost identical records.
Keenyn Lawless enjoys victory after the second division game.
